Difficulties in Communication

One of the things that happens now and then is that I speak with people who have different assumptions than me. It then becomes difficult to tell them why they’re wrong if their assumptions don’t line up with mine. If I do not know my own assumptions in the word, and if they do not know theirs either, then it is nearly impossible to negotiate between the two positions. It is possible however to say something which “jogs” the philosophical position of another to get them to see an issue from another’s assumptions. I still don’t know how this happens, nor how to spontaneously emit these utterances, but it seems to me like they work.
